Captain’s Famous Marinara Sauce (Well it will soon be famous!)

Quantity

 

3 – 28oz cans

Crushed tomatoes or a combination of whole tomatoes.  If you use the whole tomatoes you can crush them while cooking to the “chunk” sizes that you like.

1 – Cup

Chopped onions

2 – TSP

Crushed or thinly sliced garlic

2 – Tblsp

Garlic salt

1 – TSP

Basil

1 - Tblsp

Red Pepper (or more if you like it spicy)

½ - Tblsp

Black Pepper

1 – Tblsp

Sugar

  1. Start by taking a large saucepot and cooking the garlic and onions in olive oil until slightly brown.  Use just enough olive oil to coat the bottom of the pot.
  2. Next add the cans of crushed tomatoes. Put the stove on a low simmering flame.
  3. Add in each of the ingredients one at a time and stir every few minutes.
  4. The longer you let it cook down the thicker it becomes. Recommended to simmer for 2 hours or less.
  5. Enjoy!
